  • The Nashville Symphony’s 13th annual Free Day of Music will take place on Saturday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This Music City fall tradition will feature more than 20 performances on four stages, beginning with a free concert by the Nashville Symphony, plus some of Nashville’s best food trucks, an outdoor beer garden presented by Craft Brewed and much more.   • The Nashville Symphony’s Crescendo Club will host Pinot & Pianos, an exclusive musical wine tasting, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, at the Nashville Steinway Gallery. This uniquely curated event – open to ages 21 and up – will feature premier wines from Amber Falls Winery and Cellars paired with live piano selections.   • The Nashville Symphony is proud to partner with Toys for Tots on a holiday toy drive for children throughout Middle Tennessee. Starting October 25 and running through December 16, the Symphony will accept new, unwrapped toys on concert nights at a drop-off location in the Main Lobby of Schermerhorn Symphony Center. One of the most beloved pieces ever written, Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto opens with an unforgettable melody and overflows with lush lyricism and keyboard fireworks, delivered here by dazzling Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov. This evening of Russian classics also includes Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8, a powerful statement about the effects of World War II.

A spectacular showcase for the Nashville Symphony Chorus, this evening of classics is highlighted by Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, a work of profound emotion and depth inspired by the composer’s own spirituality. The Chorus will also be featured in Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, which uses a sparkling array of orchestral colors to illustrate the story from an ancient Greek love poem. The concert opens with the sonorous sounds of wind instruments in Strauss’ lyrical Serenade.

One of country music’s most beloved entertainers brings her magical holiday concert to the Schermerhorn to perform everyone’s favorite Christmas songs and some of her biggest hits.

 

The GRAMMY® Award-winning Nashville Symphony has earned an international reputation for its innovative programming and its commitment to performing, recording and commissioning works by America’s leading composers. The Nashville Symphony has released 28 recordings on Naxos, which have received 24 GRAMMY® nominations and 13 GRAMMY® Awards, making it one of the most active recording orchestras in the country. The orchestra has also released recordings on Decca, Deutsche Grammophon and New West Records, among other labels. With more than 140 performances annually, the orchestra offers a broad range of classical, pops and jazz, and children’s concerts, while its extensive education and community engagement programs reach 60,000 children and adults each year.
