Hot Air Balloon Rides over Franklin, TN

One bright fall morning, I had the magical opportunity to ride a hot air balloon over Franklin with Ace High Ballooning.  As a Franklin native, I thought I knew every bend in the road on Columbia Avenue.  I thought I knew what Harlinsdale and Franklin road looked like.  Slowly gliding above the tree tops, the rolling hills, beautiful homes and stunning scenery surprised me.  Below are photos from that magical morning, and as the balloon safely touched down, I found myself climbing out of the basket for a deeper appreciation of what I call home, Franklin, TN.

At Ace High Ballooning, you may welcome the sun or bid it farewell.   Balloon rides are offered at sunrise and about two hours prior to sunset.   Reservations are taken for flights and gift certificates are available.  The entire adventure lasts approximately three hours with the flight time lasting about one hour depending on friendly and safe landing sites.   When you arrive at the launch site, you will be expected to sign an “Acknowledgement of Risk”.   Pilots will brief passengers how to best enjoy the flight and what to expect.

Passengers and others are welcomed and encouraged to lend a hand with the set up and inflation, as well as the post flight pack up of the balloon as many find this a very enjoyable part of the ballooning experience.  They offer private charters and group flights.  In addition, they can custom design a package for you, such as a weekend get-a-way, lodging, meals, limos, etc.   Weddings, engagements, surprises, almost anything you can imagine.

Long pants, low heeled shoes and casual clothing are suggested.   It does not get colder as we fly, so whatever is suitable on the ground will be fine in the air.   Winter Flights are not as cold as one might think as we fly with the wind.   Once, we land there is a traditional Champagne Ceremony upon landing with sparkling Cider on request.
