Adult Health Programs

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of ongoing health and wellness programs for teens and adults at the Franklin Recreation Complex, located at 1120 Hillsboro Road.  For more information about activities at the Franklin Recreation Complex call (615) 790-5719, ext. 10 or view the monthly newsletter at www.wcparksandrec.com. You may also receive department information by “liking” us on Facebook. Williamson County Parks and Recreation is a public organization, here to benefit the community. Anyone can register for and participate in the department’s programs, teams, classes and events. Pre-registration is required for all classes (unless otherwise noted).

GROUP FITNESS

A variety of aerobics classes are offered daily at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Ongoing classes include: iBurn, Absoglutely, Zumba, Chisel and Sculpt, Pilates, Nite Club Cardio, Fit Camp Fusion, More of the Core and PILOXING. All classes are open to the public.  The walk-in rate is $6 for adults and $4 for teens (ages 13-17) per class. Discount monthly passes are also available and can now be used for all group fitness and indoor cycling classes at four locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex; the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; and the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd. No registration required. INDOOR CYCLING

Indoor cycling classes are offered daily at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Beginning cycling is offered along with extended ride classes. All classes are open to the public. Cycling classes are $8 for adults and $4 for teens (ages 13-17). Discount monthly passes are also available and provide access to all the group fitness and indoor cycling classes at four locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex; the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; and the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd.  No registration required. WATER AEROBICS

Water aerobics classes are offered Monday-Saturday at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road.  Class fees are $3 for Youth/Adults and $2 for Seniors (55 and older). Arthritic/post rehab classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:15 a.m.–9 a.m. Moderate to high intensity classes meet Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.–10 a.m., Mondays and Thursdays from 6 p.m.–7 p.m., and Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.  Low to moderate intensity classes meet Monday-Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; Annual passes and punch cards do not cover class fees.  No registration required. Walk-ins welcome.

TAE KWON DO

MPact Martial Arts

People of any age and physical condition may participate in this Martial Arts program.  Instructor Eric Melton designed the class to bring the beginner into a high level of physical well being!  The adult class is offered on an ongoing basis, Wednesdays, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. YOGA-CONTINUING & ADVANCED BEGINNERS

Learn fundamental poses and how to practice them with steadiness and joy.  This  level 2 class is appropriate for adults in good health who have previously taken an introduction to yoga class. Yoga-Continuing meets Thursdays, October 11-November 29 (skip 11/22) from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The seven-week course is $70 and can be joined in progress. YOGA COMBO-SLOW FLOW & ADV. BEGINNERS

Save money and combine the Saturday (10 a.m.) Slow Flow Yoga class with the Thursday night advanced beginners class (6 p.m.) and attend both classes for $110. SLOW FLOW YOGA

In Slow Flow Yoga, learn to practice poses with steadiness and joy. For adults in good health who have had a yoga class before. Slow Flow Yoga is on Saturdays, October 13-November 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  For all levels. The six–week course is $60. Please bring a yoga mat to class. Can be joined in progress. MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION

Learn a wide variety of techniques for savoring and fully experiencing your food.  Mindful eating can help you slow down your eating and enhance your overall health and well-being.  The camaraderie of the group, as well as guidance from the instructor will provide the support you need to launch profound changes to your relationship with food.  Class meets Sundays, November 4-December 2 (skip 11/25) from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.
