The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatics division is pleased to announce the April children’s swim lesson schedule at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road.
Classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 6th – 29th at a cost of $80 for the eight lessons. A Tuesday and Thursday session will be held April 7th – 30th and the fee is $80 for 8 lessons. Saturday-only lessons are available April 4th – 25th at a cost of $40. For a complete schedule, visit www.excelaquatics.org.
Class descriptions:
Beginner I: This class is for those who have little or no experience in the water. Students will be taught basic water adaptation skills such as putting their face in the water, holding their breath and assisted floating.
Beginner II: This class is designed for students who have some experience in the water and are capable of placing their face in the water. The goal for swimmers in this class is to master the prone float and back float unassisted.
Advanced I: This is for the more advanced swimmer who has mastered floating and underwater swimming. Students will be taught the basic techniques of freestyle and backstroke, including roll breathing.
Advanced II: Swimmers in this group will refine the techniques of freestyle and backstroke and move into the basics of butterfly and breaststroke.
Parent & Tot: For ages6 months to 36 months. This is a water adaptation class, not a drown-proofing class. Using a gentle, loving approach, parents and the instructor introduce basic swimming skills such as breath control, submersion, kicking, reaching, back float and safety. A parent must be in the water with each child.

Pre-registration and advanced payment are required for all swim sessions. Participants must submit a completed registration form, signed release form and payment in advance, either by mail or in person. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
