BGA presents Curtains

Battle Ground Academy’s Upper School Drama Department will produce Curtains, which had its Broadway run in 2007, as its spring musical. The performance will open on Friday, April 8 and continue through Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Harlin Student Center on BGA’s Echo Glen campus.

Set in Boston in 1959, the show follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of  Robbin’ Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call. It is up to a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show, solve the case and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself.

“We are thrilled to present a relatively new musical to BGA and the wider community, said Jenny Noël, Upper School drama director. “This is by far the largest, most complex production I have directed at BGA, and I am so impressed by the way our young performers have risen to the challenge. Best categorized as a ‘murder mystery musical comedy,’ Curtains boasts a toe-tapping score, fantastic choreography, elaborate scenery, hundreds of costumes and a live orchestra. It is truly not to be missed!”

The BGA production marks the Middle Tennessee premiere of Curtains. The cast includes: Grant Saunders, Becca Guthrie, Tyler Lawrence, Bevin Murphy, Sam Wade, Ali Binch, Cody Evins, Jack Blackstone and Maddie Beth Wall. Rounding out the cast is: Colin Harper, Cal Fahey, Jennifer Heibig, Virginia Lodholz, Brett Bauer, Dalton Greenwood, Meredith Braun, Reyn Haun, Brooke Erwin, Kristian Lewis, Will Lamb, Colin Stuart, Olivia Yancey, Janvi Shukla, Vignesh Balasundaram and McAlister Alday.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and can be purchased at the door. Showtime is 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. The play is open to the public. For more information about the production, contact Jenny Noël at jennyn@battlegroundacademy.org.
