DECEMBER EVENTS AT TIMBERLAND PARK

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to join the fun on two upcoming events at Timberland Park in Franklin, TN.

Friday, December 21: First Day of Winter Hike and Honeycomb Candle Making
9:00 a.m. – Join park staff for a brisk morning hike to celebrate the winter solstice. This walk will be 3/4 of a mile long. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com. (Registration code #13358)

2:00 p.m. It is the “darkest” day of the year, so what better time to learn how to make a honeycomb candle to light things up for the winter solstice. Participants will create and take home their own honeycomb candle as well as sample some tasty honey. Along with the candle making, the life history of the honeybee will also be discussed. Come on out to the park for an enlightening time! Program costs $2.00 per person. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com.  (Registration code #13359)

December 22: Full Moon Hike, 5:15 p.m.

Come see the park as it is rarely seen…at night!  Park staff will conduct a hike around a half a mile and discuss different night-time creatures and try to dispel some of our fears of the night. As an added bonus, there will be a full moon to hike by, so join us for this memorable time. Pre-Registration is strictly required. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com. (Registration code #13357)

Timberland Park is located at mile marker 437.2 on the historic Natchez Trace Parkway, just south of the Highway 96 entrance and iconic bridge. For questions or additional information, call (615) 232-4154.
