DNA Groundhog Eve Winter Social

Monday February 01, 2010
5:30 am - 7:30 pm

Come out of your cave February 1 for the Downtown Neighborhood Association Groundhog Eve Winter Social at Battle Ground Brewery, Historic Downtown Franklin’s newest restaurant venue!

Franklin’s Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) will celebrate Groundhog Eve with a Winter Social February 1 at Battle Ground Brewery on Bridge Street, downtown Franklin’s newest restaurant venue.

“We want everyone who lives in and/or loves downtown Franklin to come out of their holes, look toward spring, and enjoy our newest neighbors and friends at Battle Ground Brewery,” said David Morris, DNA President.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 1, the social will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Battle Ground Brewery and a cash bar including special prices on the brewery’s own beers and its wine selection from Arrington Vineyards.

Admission is free to all DNA members.  Anyone who loves historic downtown Franklin can join at the door for the $20 annual membership fee.

“We’re delighted to have our downtown neighbors come over and see what we have to offer,” said Frederick Mindermann, President, Battle Ground Brewery & Restaurant.  “We’re excited to be in the heart of downtown Franklin in a unique historic building with a terrific menu, a great line-up of hand-made beers, some special vintages from our own Williamson County Arrington Vineyards that I started in 2001as a research vineyard, a fully stocked bar, and entertainment almost every night of the week.”

“Our craft-brewed beers are brewed in the ‘old school style’ without any mechanical devices that push beers,” said Fred Scheer, Master Brewer and C.O.O. Battle Ground Brewery & Restaurant. “We have beers for every taste, including India Pale Ale, American Pale Ale, German Style Wheat Beers, and Light Beers.”

With more than 125 members, the Downtown Neighborhood Association was founded in 1997 to help residents of historic Franklin “exercise greater control over the economic, political, environmental and social forces that influence their ways of life; to promote understanding among property owners, residents, government and business interests; to foster neighborhood identity and a sense of community; to cooperate and affiliate in appropriate ways with other local, state and national organizations having compatible goals,” according to the organization’s charter.

“Our socials offer a chance to catch up on our neighbors and friends and talk with each other about the latest developments affecting historic Franklin,” said Morris.  “We’re expecting a big crowd February 1 to celebrate Groundhog Eve, the day before the groundhog tells us how long winter will last.  We have exclusive early word that we will NOT have six more weeks of winter!”
