Barktoberfest is coming to Franklin on Saturday, Oct0ber 12, and Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center will be on hand with lovable dogs in need of forever homes.  Barktoberfest 2013 will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. on the grounds of Animalia Health and Wellness, 1973 New Hwy. 96 West in Franklin, adjoining the Westhaven community. During the shelter’s $31 Days of October promotion, all adoption fees will be reduced to $31.

Barktoberfest, presented by Nashville PAW Magazine, is called “Middle Tennessee’s biggest Howl-o-ween festival for dogs and their people,” and features live music and entertainment, over 50 vendors, food trucks and more. One of our adoptable dogs will be featured in an Adoptable Pet Parade from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free, and dog owners and their pets are encouraged to come in costume.

Nashville PAW is also hosting a Howl-o-ween costume contest for the public at 4:00 p.m. with over $3,000 in prizes will be awarded to contest winners by the festival organizers. For more information on the contest and a schedule of events, go to www.nashvillepaw.com/barktoberfest.

Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center at 106 Claude Yates Drive in Franklin is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adoptable animals can be viewed at www.adoptwcac.org.   For more information, call (615) 790-5590 or like Williamson County Animal Shelter on Facebook.
