Blue & Gray Days

Soldier speaking with visitorsBlue and Gray Days is an annual living history event at Carter House and Carnton that allows guests to step into the past. In addition to the classic house tours, re-enactors and living historians set up camp sites and perform demonstrations. Visitors can meet and visit with Abraham Lincoln and Gen. U.S. Grant, play a game of 19th Century cricket, or learn the differences between Federal and Confederate soldiers.

The Battle of Franklin Trust will host its annual living history event, Blue & Gray Days from Thursday, Nov. 9 to Saturday, Nov. 11 at Carnton and Carter House.

On Thursday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 10, Blue & Gray Days will be closed to the general public from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to accommodate reserved school groups.

The general public can visit Blue & Gray Days on Thursday and Friday from 12:30 p.m.– 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Tickets to explore the grounds and take a guided tour of Carnton or Carter House are $18 for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to15. Blue & Gray Days’ grounds passes are available for only $10, but do not include a house tour. No battlefield or extended tours will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 10. All proceeds support The Battle of Franklin Trust.

The Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501(c)3 management corporation acting on behalf of Franklin’s battlefield sites to contribute to a greater understanding and enrich the visitor experience of the November 30, 1864 battle. It is organized for the charitable and educational purposes of preserving, restoring, maintaining and interpreting the properties, artifacts and documents related to the battle so as to preserve an important part of the nation’s history.
