Heritage Ball

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County and the 34th annual Heritage Ball sponsored by Tennessee Commerce Bank. The “longest-running black-tie gala” in Williamson County is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at Historic Carnton Plantation. In it’s long history “every year the ball is different because it takes on the personality of the chairs, said Damon Rogers, Heritage Foundation President and Ball Co-Chair. This year’s theme Star-Spangled Ball will “salute the nation’s patriotic heritage and its hardworking military men and women.”

This year the event is being moved “back to the original site in the field between the Confederate Cemetery and the Mansion” and there will be plasma TVs and sound systems throughout the tents so everyone can hear and see everything. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by a short heartfelt program “honoring those who have given back in the community.” The program will include color guard, a special flag presentation called “Old Glory” to a Williamson County legend, and acknowledge civic servants, community leaders and military personnel for their outstanding public service. Dinner will be provided by Kate’s Catering, and big band music for dancing by the Pat Patrick Orchestra. Of course, their will also be patriotic décor, and costumed characters from the nation, state and county history like Ben Franklin, Rachel and Andrew Jackson and Carrie and John McGavock. Tickets are $225 per person and sold out last year.

New this year is a “late night party” starting at 10 p.m. for members of the Heritage Foundation “next generation” for $75 a person. While the Ball and Patrons party are open to the public, only members of the next generation can purchase tickets to the late night part of the Ball.

The Patrons Party is set for Thursday, Sept. 20, at Homestead Manor, home of Jay and Marcia Franks in Thompson’s Station and begins at 7 p.m.   Ball attendees may also attend the Patrons’ party for an additional $75 per guest or $300 per guest for both the Ball and Patrons’ Party. All proceeds will benefit the Heritage Foundation. To reserve or request an invitation, contact Kristy Williams at 591-8500, Extension 18 or KWilliams@HistoricFranklin.com.
