FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center embraces Hollywood glam for An Evening in Old Hollywood fundraising event

Nashville, Tenn. – FiftyForward J.L. Turner Center goes “old school” Hollywood glam for its first fundraising and friendraising event, An Evening in Old Hollywood, Friday, Sept. 28, 6-9 p.m. to be held at its sister center, FiftyForward Martin Center (906 Heritage Way, Brentwood 37027).  Arrive in style on the red carpet, enjoy a catered dinner, silent auction, live music from the 1940s and, of course, dancing.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the programs and services of FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center.

Established in 2006, the center serves more than 860 members annually. The FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center has created a strong community of members since its opening in 2006 inside the Bellevue Family YMCA. All YMCA members 50+ are automatically given center membership in order to take advantage of the center’s innovative and engaging programs. Rise Tucker, long time member, director of the center’s Rhythm Band, and 2017 Volunteer of the Year award honoree states, “The center encourages us to discover and explore things we simply love to do, and to share that enthusiasm with others.”

Some of the many programs offered at the center include: Bellevue History & Genealogy Club, health & wellness education, art classes, service projects, writer’s groups, Medicare education, access to supportive care services, day trips, music, theatre, and much more. The center is one of seven centers operated by FiftyForward across the region, serving more than 20,000 individuals and their families each year. It is not uncommon for center members to credit FiftyForward for vastly improving their health, quality of life, and social engagement.

The silent auction will highlight items from Nashville Predators, Batch Nashville, TPAC, The Nashville Ballet, Bongo Java, Nashville Sounds, Cabot Creamery, Loveless Cafe and more! Entertainment will provided by the Larry Mechum Quartet, playing jazz and swing from the 1940s. Sponsors include Edward Jones Financial, Monell’s, Moore & Moore Garden Center, and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance. Dinner by CRAVE Catering.
