Franklin Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square  Friday, December 1, 6:00-8 p.m

Franklin—The city of Franklin is excited to light up the square Friday, December 1, for the 2017 Christmas tree lighting, the best tree lighting event in Middle Tennessee!

Freedom Intermediate School Honors Choir and Independence High School Choir will sing with a special guest performer before Mayor Ken Moore flips the switch on the tree.  News Two morning host Neil Orne will be here to help celebrate the season.

This year the event is sponsored by Spring Tree Media, Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation (MTEMC). Williamson Medical Center sponsors the free photos with Santa beginning at 5:30 pm, and Mars Petcare is offering another photo opportunity on the square that is pet friendly, so pets are welcome! Characters from Gaylord Opryland ICE, A Charlie Brown Christmas will be on hand to take photos with kids, plus more surprises.

The Downtown Franklin Association is participating with fun happenings in the downtown stores and they will stay open late that night so shoppers can get an early start on their Christmas shopping.  The Franklin Noon Rotary and the new Downtown Franklin Rotary will hand out free refreshments.

“This event is so special to our community. We thank our sponsors and all attendees who bring the Christmas Spirit to Franklin,” said Mayor Ken Moore.  “We invite everyone to come out early, the square will close about 5 p.m. and be closed to fourth Avenue; photo opportunities will begin at 5:30 and the performance will begin at 6:30pm.  We expect to light the tree at 7 p.m.”  For more details visit http://www.franklintn.gov
