HeART to Heart 2010

HeART to Heart 2010

The former Executive Director who brought Kids on the Block to Middle Tennessee is set to speak at the HeART to Heart Event, on Friday, February 5th, 2010 at the Factory in Franklin.

Alva Duke brought Kids on the Block to Middle Tennessee in 1981 after her son Adam was born with Down syndrome, changing her life and career path dramatically. Alva became an advocate not only for her son but for others with disabilities.  Kids on the Block educates children – as well as the broader community – about health and social concerns that affect their lives.  Using puppets and other teaching tools, Kids on the Block promotes understanding and acceptance of all people, regardless of their differences. Guests of the luncheon will be treated to a special performance of Kids on the Block.

Each year the HeART to Heart Luncheon benefits United Way of Williamson County. Kids on the Block is a program through STARS (Students Taking a Right Stand), which is a United Way partner agency. School children all through Williamson County and Middle Tennessee benefit from this special program.
