High School Rodeo takes place this weekend at Ag Center

Herald Reports

It’s Rodeo Weekend at the Williamson County Ag Center as the younger set gathers to rope, buck and barrel race at the first-ever Tennessee High School Rodeo in Franklin, presented by the Williamson County High School Rodeo Association.

The two-day rodeo begins Saturday, April 2, at 7 p.m. with opening ceremonies, including a Grand Entry with riders bearing flags. Announcers raise the level of enthusiasm and energy. Other events include bareback riding, barrels, saddle bronc, pole bending, calf roping, breakaway, steer wrestling, goat tying, bull riding, teaming roping and more. Events continue on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 2 p.m.

“The event is filled with an air of patriotism and country kids,” said Jill Lauber, whose company Western Events, a rodeo consulting firm, is assisting local businessman and rodeo enthusiast Ralph Drury in bringing the event to Franklin. “It is a wholesome sport.”
