Inky Johnson to Speak at Boys & Girls Clubs 28th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner

Inky Johnson to Speak at Boys & Girls Clubs 28th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner

On Thursday, May 11, 2017, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee will host the Steak & Burger Dinner a fundraising event supporting the Fairview and Franklin Clubhouses. The Steak & Burger Dinner includes dinner (steak for kids and mouth-watering hamburgers for adults), entertainment, and a silent auction.

Inquoris “Inky” Johnson, former University of Tennessee football defensive back, will share his inspiring journey following a career ending injury.

September 9, 2006, started as a normal college football game in Neyland Stadium. For Johnson, though, the game changed everything. A routine tackle turned into a life-threatening injury, and nothing has been normal for Johnson ever since. Johnson’s right arm was paralyzed, and he was left suffering from pain daily. While Johnson’s dream to play professional sports was crushed, his spirit was not.

Additionally, the 5th Annual “Ed Moody Award of Excellence” will be presented to Mr. Robert Blair. Blair has served on the Franklin Special School District Board since 2003, and he currently holds the office of Vice Chair. In 2016, Blair was named to the Tennessee School Board’s Association, All-Tennessee School Board, an honor granted to only five School Board members across the state. In 2011, Blair achieved the highest designation a school board member can earn: Level V board status, a Master School Board Member.
