MAYOR ANDERSON NAMES NEW SHELTER DIRECTOR

Ondrea Johnson to lead Williamson County Animal Center

Ondrea Johnson has been named director of Williamson County Animal Center in Franklin, TN. Johnson is an 18-year resident of Williamson County where she has served in executive positions for not-for-profit organizations and as an animal rescue volunteer.

A seasoned communications professional, Johnson is skilled in public speaking, fundraising and relationship building.  Most recently, Johnson served as director of development for Williamson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) where she led efforts to develop programs and events, train volunteers and raise funds for child victims of abuse and neglect. Previously, as director of development for End Slavery Tennessee, Johnson worked to raise community awareness of human trafficking in Tennessee. In addition, Johnson has worked extensively with several local animal rescue groups and is a vocal advocate for animal rights.

As director of Williamson County Animal Center, Johnson will oversee all facility and field operations, as well as a staff of 20, including a full-time on-site veterinarian and four animal control officers.  “I am excited to have this opportunity to serve the citizens of Williamson County,” she stated. “So many wonderful things are on the horizon for our animal center, and I look forward to continuing to provide high-quality programs and services to our community.”

Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson praised Johnson’s skills. “After several months of interviews with multiple job candidates, it became clear that Ondrea is the right person to lead Williamson County Animal Center. She is very passionate about animal welfare, and I am confident her business skills will take our excellent county animal center to even greater heights.”  Anderson said Johnson will enter her new position on February 20, 2018. “One of the projects Ondrea will be an integral part of,” added Anderson, “is the design and construction of a new animal center.”  The county has secured land for the project near Old Charlotte Pike and Del Rio Lane in Franklin.  Johnson has served on an Animal Center Task Force for the past six months, working with like-minded citizens to make recommendations for programs, services and features at the new facility.
