NY TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR DR. GARY CHAPMAN TO SPEAK NOV. 6

BRENTWOOD, TN – Dr. Gary Chapman, author of The 5 Love Languages,® will speak on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 PM at Brentwood Academy as part of the school’s “Engage” speaker’s series. Dr. Chapman is well-known for his book that has sold 11 million copies and has been translated into 50 languages. Dr. Chapman travels the world presenting seminars on marriage, family, and relationships, and his radio programs air on more than 400 stations.

Jeanne Natwick, director of Brentwood Academy’s “Engage” series, says this free community-wide session is designed to help parents effectively love each other and their teens.

“You will learn the five love languages and how to determine the primary love language of your spouse and your teen,” she says.  “As a parent of teenagers myself, I know that raising teens is both a blessing and challenge at times. Understanding our teens sometimes feels like we need a decoder! Dr. Chapman offers practical, thoughtful and effective insight into communicating and understanding our teens’ love language. I am excited to have Dr. Chapman here in person to share his wisdom with the community.”

Dr. Chapman’s flagship book has been credited as being instrumental in transforming countless relationships. Its ideas are simple and conveyed with clarity and humor, making this book practical as it is personable. (Learn more at https://www.5lovelanguages.com).

Unhappiness in marriage, and other important relationships, often has a simple root cause: we speak different love languages, believes Dr. Gary Chapman. While working as a marriage counselor and pastor for more than 35 years, he identified five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. In a friendly, often humorous style, he unpacks each one. Chapman illustrates each love language with real-life examples from his counseling practice.

Dr. Chapman holds BA and MA degrees in anthropology from Wheaton College and Wake Forest University, respectively, MRE and PhD degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has completed postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina and Duke University.

The event will be held in Brentwood Academy’s upper school gym.
