October Events at Timberland Park

Williamson County Parks and Recreation will conduct a Guided Hike at Timberland Park in Franklin, TN on Friday, October 19 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. On the hike, park staff will discuss the natural history of some of the different plant and animal species in the area. The hike will be between 1.5 to 2 miles and is considered moderately strenuous. The guided hike is free but registration (#12927) is required at www.wcparksandrec.com.

Halloween events are planned at the park for Saturday, October 27.  Activities include a series of fun, fall themed programs throughout the day, including corn husk doll making, tree ring fun, and a presentation of mammal pelts of Tennessee.  A guided hike will begin at 9:00 a.m.  At 1:00 p.m., the park will host a special guest (and some of their wildlife friends) from Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Located just south of the SR Highway 96 entrance to the Natchez Trace Parkway at mile marker 437.2, Timberland Park is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and admission is free. The park trails are old logging roads that have been left intact over the years, with the addition of new trails. Visitors have access to nine different trails of varying lengths and difficulties, five miles total, including a two mile loop.

The park’s amenities include a rest area, picnic areas, restrooms, an Interpretive Center with informational and educational displays, a butterfly garden, hiking trails, and an ADA accessible trail. The site is RV accessible but does not include a dump station. Pets are permitted, and must remain on a leash (6 feet maximum) and under physical restraint at all times.
