Putting a Pool in Your Back Yard

Putting a Pool in Your Back Yard

Tennessee is the perfect place to have a pool in your backyard.  With hot summers, warm springs and mild falls, Williamson County is home to many pools.  Do you want your backyard to be your own personal haven?  A pool is an excellent way to sit back and relax with your family.  Pools are also great for throwing parties for children or elegant bar-b-queer’s with a pool filled with votive candles.

Before you start day dreaming about the great parties you will throw with a pool in your backyard it is important to know the facts.  In ground pools come in three basic forms: fiberglass, concrete and vinyl lined.

According to www.ingroundpools.com:

“The vinyl-lined pool is the most cost-effective but you have limited design options. Concrete pools offer an endless range of design variations and their initial installation is generally less than a fiberglass inground pool. However, fiberglass is easier to maintain and will save you money over the life of the pool.”

While you are in the process of deciding what type of pool you would like, it is important to consider your pool budget, the shape that you would like, if you want a waterfall, diving board, basketball area, etc; Also, don’t forget to consider the pool deck and how many lawn chairs you would like out there with little tables and perhaps some umbrellas, too.  It is always best to have a little “pool house” built as well.  This shed can house sun screen, extra towels, life jackets, rescue equipment and your cleaning supplies.

Another main thing that you should think about is the water.  Do you want a salt water pool, a chlorine-free pool, or a traditional chlorinated pool?  The type of water that you choose will greatly impact you and your guests.  Be sure to talk with pool owners that have different types of water, to get a good feel for what would best suite your needs.

Finally, be sure to obtain a permit before you break ground.  The city of Franklin requires a permit for the installation of a hot tub, spa or swimming pool that is capable of holding a water depth of 24 inches or more.
