SENIOR FITNESS EXPANDS

New classes added at Enrichment Center at Academy Park

The special focus on senior fitness continues to grow with the addition of three new classes at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.

SilverSneakers® Yoga, Cardio/Pilates, and Integral Tai Chi have joined the weekly schedule of eight group fitness classes specially designed for seniors (55+). All group fitness classes are $4.00 each with a standard rec pass or FREE with any premium monthly/annual pass, SilverSneakers® membership or Silver&Fit® membership. Classes are $2.00 each with an Enrichment Center Pass.

SilverSneakers® Yoga

Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered so you can perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness levels. Offered every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

Cardio and Pilates

Cardio & Pilates is a high energy class designed for seniors (55+). Enjoy a cardio workout with the emphasis on developing endurance. Incorporating Pilates helps build long, flexible muscles. Instructor Jennifer Potere provides the inspiration and guidance for all levels of fitness. Cardio & Pilates meets every Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.

Integral Tai Chi

This new class for seniors combines yoga and Tai Chi, both ancient forms of exercise.  The focus is on 4 key elements: balance, flexibility, breathing and meditation.  Every movement helps improve and build the body structure, as well as relieve stress for improved total well-being.  Instructor: David Bilger. This drop-in class meets Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
