SHELTER BEGINS MANAGED INTAKE POLICY FOR DOGS

Owners must make appointment to surrender pets

Effective immediately, Williamson County Animal Center will begin a managed intake program for owner-surrendered dogs and puppies. Cat surrenders have been by appointment only since July 2018, and now dogs and puppies are included in the policy.

Shelter director Ondrea Johnson announced the new policy in response to recent cases of kennel cough at the shelter. “We have several dogs currently affected by kennel cough, and in order to allow time for them to heal, we must restrict intake,” she reported. “We are implementing a managed intake system and are not accepting voluntary surrenders until after December 10.”

To make an appointment to surrender a family pet, contact the shelter at 615-790-5590, ext. 3400. Please bring a completed owner surrender form to your appointment. This form can be found at www.adoptwcac.org, keyword “owner surrender.”
