Small Wonders Kicks Off

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a variety of ongoing children’s classes in January at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Some classes require pre-registration and space may be limited. For more information about activities, call (615)302-0971, ext. 10, or view the Spring Hill monthly newsletter at www.wcparksandrec.com. No membership is required. The Longview Recreation Center is a public facility, here to benefit the community. Anyone, including out-of-county residents, can register for and participate in classes and events held at Longview, even if you don’t have a facility pass!

SMALL WONDERS
Children ages 3-6 will love this program with professionally planned and supervised activities that encourage the development of their minds and bodies while having fun! Children will enjoy monthly themed activities which will include stories, songs and crafts. Physical coordination and social skills get a boost with our obstacle course, open gym and a variety of exercises and active games. Don’t let your child miss out on exploring the “Small Wonders” which bring them such joy! “Small Wonders” is held at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive. The theme for January will be “Let it Snow!” Children must be potty trained. The cost for sessions 1 & 2 is $35. The cost for sessions 3 & 4 is $40.

GUITAR WORKSHOP
Learning guitar-made fun. Join instructor Tony Seago in an easy to follow, step-by-step instructional class. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of playing the guitar. Parents are invited for a first class orientation. Classroom guitars will be provided, or you can bring your own. Classes are Wednesdays, January 6-27 with ages 6-7 meeting from 4:30-5:30 p.m. (one parent may accompany the participant), ages 8-9 years meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and ages 10-12 meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The fee for each 4-week session is $40, and the supply fee of $40 for an illustrated manual and CD is payable to the instructor. POLYNESIAN DANCING
Calling all kids ages 5 to 12 years old . . . Have you ever wanted to learn to dance like the island natives of Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand or Tahiti? Instructor Chris Hendrickson invites you to learn Polynesian dancing on Wednesdays, January 6-27 from 6-7 p.m. Participants will be exposed to several representations of Polynesian dance as a form of exercise and education.  The fee for the 4-week class is $35, and the supply fee is $5.
