The Refuge Center’s Songwriters Night supports the work of the counseling center. The evening will include food, drinks, entertainment and a cash bar. Doug Johnson, a songwriter, musician, producer and record company executive, is headlining the event. Johnson is the author of the 2003 Grammy-winning Song of The Year, “Three Wooden Crosses.” Also performing are Rob Crosby, Chip Davis and Mark Steven Jones. The Refuge Center for Counseling, based in Franklin, Tenn., provides professional counseling services to individuals, couples and families regardless of income, based on a sliding scale that ranges from $10 to $85. Since opening in 2005, The Refuge Center has served more than 1,000 individuals and families, and in 2008, the center provided more than 5,000 counseling sessions with the sliding-fee scale. The Refuge Center has established a satellite office in Davidson County and works with Hope House in Maury County. Tickets are limited and can be purchased in advance for $75 by contacting Virginia Fontanella at (615) 969-0064 or by e-mail at songwritersnight@aol.com. Tickets will also be available online at www.therefugecenter.org starting June 24. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds will benefit The Refuge Center and related services.
