Steak & Burger Dinner honors Boys & Girls Club members and supporters

One of Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee’s oldest traditions, the 27th annual Steak & Burger Dinner, once again provided members of the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin & Williamson County a chance to shine and enjoy a steak. Since the evening celebrates the youth, it has been a long-standing tradition for the kids to eat steak and the adults to have hamburgers.

As a special treat, Andrew Maraniss, a Franklin resident who is an alumnus of the Silver Springs, Md., Boys Club and the author of the book, Strong Inside, related the inspiring untold story of Perry Wallace, the first African American scholarship athlete to play in the Southeastern Conference.

The evening also recognized the Club’s two Youth of the Year. This year, Jazsmin Robertson was named Youth of the Year for the Franklin Club and Joseph Sullivan for the Fairview Club. Robertson also earned the title of Middle Tennessee Youth of the Year.
