THEATREPull-Tight celebrates 40 years of entertainment
CAROLE ROBINSON, Staff Writer

Community theater in some form can be traced back centuries. It provides an opportunity for creative expression, entertainment and a release from the pressures and stress of life.

In the late 1960s, Battle Ground Academy sophomore Vance Ormes was looking for an outlet for his creativity when he saw the need for a community theater in his hometown.

“In the summer of 1967 I was in a play at a Nashville children’s theater and it ignited the theater bug,” said Ormes. “I wanted to keep doing theater, but Franklin didn’t have any opportunities.”

With his parents’ support, encouragement and contacts, a spark of interest started a fire of commitment that built an organization now celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Many Williamson County residents are among the volunteers with the AT&T Pioneers Nashville Life Member Club who recently donated 1,000 stuffed “Buckle Bears” to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) in hopes of reminding parents to properly secure their children in cars, trucks and other vehicles on Tennessee roads.

The bears, along with crayons and coloring books, were presented to THP Colonel Mike Walker and members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol at the AT&T Tower in downtown Nashville recently.

FAB invades Carnton for last summer concert Aug. 24
By Staff Reports

FAB, a Beatles tribute band, invades the lush lawn of Historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin Sunday, Aug. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m., according to Margie Thessin, Carnton’s interim executive director.

“These guys really are fab. They are the Fab Four and for those of us old enough to remember the originals, it’s akin to time travel. Of our three Sunset Series Concerts each summer, FAB has always drawn the biggest crowd — until this year when we kicked off with 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience. We had 3,000 people here for that June concert, so we’re hoping Beatles fans step up to the plate like the Eagles fans did,” said Thessin.

The FAB band members were studio pros plying their trade on Music Row before they became the hit cover band.
