Summer Swimwear 2008

Summer Swimwear 2008

By Polly Bibb

Before you step out in the sun this summer, take time to find a gorgeous swimsuit that fits your needs.  We have all heard of couture gowns, but did you know that there is such a thing as couture swimwear?  It’s true!

This summer put a little sizzle in your swimwear and check out the Asha Couture collection for inspiration.

Asha Couture’s 2008 collection of couture swimwear is simply fantastic!  She has five different series which each appeal to women on many different levels.

Her most popular collection is the Dr. No set of swimwear.  Dr. No has a signature belt with each piece and is flattering for women of all shapes and sizes.  This season Dr. No swimwear is in white, blue, camo green, chocolate and black.  Dr. No has actually brought couture swimwear out of the traditional bikinis and into a new genre of swimwear that still holds the couture characteristic.

According to Asha Couture’s website:

"Couture swimwear has consisted of triangle bikinis and un-constructed silhouettes for years. There was a void in the designer swim market for high-fashion swimwear with bust support. Our swimwear fills that void."

Furthermore,

“Asha’s European style is attributed to the influence of her French family and Italian husband. This European culture is reflected in the design of each collection. A diving enthusiast, Asha also draws inspiration from "’time spent in the ocean, discovering some of the most beautiful colors and prints in nature.’"

Her other pieces are titled Antigua, Marrakech, Marbella and Barbados.  The Antigua collection plays off of a chocolate and blue palette with some floral patterns.  The Marrakech has a white and chocolate palette with some pop of silver.  It also toys with unconvential stripes and lines, making the swimwear look very luxurious.  The Marbella collection plays on a black and white combination with some floral patterns, as well.  Finally, the Barbados collection is a colorful collection with a vibrant pattern that pulls all of Asha’s colors from the other collections together.  It is a carefree and sophisticated look all in one!
