This concert features pieces that commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the GCO. The works performed will be Clint
Needham’s Urban Sprawl, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Serenade for Winds in C-minor and Richard Strauss’s Le bourgeois
gentilhomme.
Clint Needham’s high energy Urban Sprawl sets the stage for a memorable anniversary. The GCO tackles Strauss’ daunting score,
Le bourgeois gentilhomme, nine years to the week since it first paired Mozart and Strauss in its inaugural installment of its
Grammy-nominated “Wind Serenades.”
“It is hard to imagine that it has been nearly 10 years since a gathering of musical friends paired together Mozart and Strauss
under the banner of Gateway,” explained Gregory Wolynec, Gateway Chamber Orchestra Music Director. “Now, more than 6
subscription seasons later, national recognition, Grammy awards for our producer and an identifiable approach to the great
Viennese masters, we are excited to reconnect with Mozart and Strauss on a concert also featuring the energetic Urban Sprawl
by Clint Needham.”
