ONGOING THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS AT THE LONGVIEW RECREATION CENTER AT SPRING HILL
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the following Therapeutic programs in March at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop leisure and social skills for participation in community activities. Some programs require pre-registration and space may be limited. The Longview Recreation Center is a public facility, here to benefit the community. Anyone, including out-of-county residents, can register for and participate in classes and events held at Longview, even if you don’t have a facility pass!
FITNESS FUN
Need a smart start to a healthy heart? Join Fitness Fun on Mondays, March 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 4-4:50 p.m. and participate in activities that help improve cardiovascular abilities, increase flexibility and strengthen muscles. This is a therapeutic recreation program designed for young adults and up who are independent in their personal care and can follow directions within a small group. The cost is $12. No refunds are available for any missed sessions. Register from February 17-March 4 by calling the Longview Recreation Center at (615)302-0971, ext. 10.
RECREATION NIGHT-DINNER AT PONCHO’S
The Longview Recreation Center’s recreation night will be held at Poncho’s on Tuesday, March 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. Meet at Poncho’s, 104 Kedron Parkway in Spring Hill at 6 p.m. for great food and fun. Dinner is Dutch treat. This is a PALS program (People at Leisure with Support) for young adults and up. A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Please register from February 22-March 4 by calling (615)302-0971, ext. 10.
SUPER SATURDAY RESPITE
The Therapeutics Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites you to a fun day of games, music, swimming, crafts and more during the Super Saturday Respite at the Longview Recreation Center from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 13! Open to Williamson County residents ages 6-23 with special needs only, this program provides a day of fun-filled therapeutic recreation. Participants will need a swimsuit, towel, lunch and drink. Participants should come dressed to swim. Personal care is provided. The cost is $20 per person. Register by calling Mary Clark at (615)302-0971, ext. 18. You must speak to a therapist to register. You may leave a message for a return call, and calls will be returned in the order they are received. Leaving a message is not registering. Register through Friday, March 5 or when the program is full. To hold a reservation, payment must be received within 5 days of the initial registration. Payments may be mailed or made in person at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive. Refunds are available through the last day of registration. Check in is between 10-10:30 a.m. If you have not checked in by 10:30 a.m. you forfeit your space. If you are registered at one location, and there is space available at a second location on the Monday prior to the respite date, you may sign up for both respites.
POTLUCK AND BINGO
Join the fun at the Longview Recreation Center’s Therapeutic potluck and Bingo dinner from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30. The theme is GREEN so don’t leave home without it! Participants will enjoy a delicious meal and have fun playing Bingo! Williamson County Parks and Recreation will provide the meat, drinks and Bingo prizes. Participants are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. This PALS (People at Leisure with Support) therapeutic recreation program is for young adults and up. A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers are asked to register as well. Please register from March 11-25 by calling (615)302-0971, ext. 10. This is a FREE event. Bingo and prizes are for participants only.
