THERAPEUTIC RECREATION PROGRAMS

Splash & Swim Party tops August fun

 

The Therapeutic Recreation programs offered by Williamson County Parks and Recreation provide year-round leisure activities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop skills and knowledge for daily living and community involvement. Recreation Specialists conduct monthly ongoing programs at three locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; and the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. All programs are open to the public.

 

Splash & Swim Party

Let’s cool off and celebrate summer at a Splash a & Swim Party, Thursday, August 24 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Enjoy the new Splash Park as well as the outdoor pool. This event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner of sandwiches.  For young adults and older. This is a PALS program and a caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. Potluck and Bingo

Therapeutic recreation participants are invited to enjoy free potluck and bingo from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. August 3 at the Franklin Recreation Complex (#9557), and August 9 at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. (#9591). Participants (young adults and older) should bring a dish to share. Meat and drinks will be provided. Pre-registration is required at www.wcparksandrec.com. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support.

 

Pizza & Ice Cream Party

Beat the heat with a pizza and ice cream party on Thursday, August 17 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. After enjoying pizza, make your own dessert at our ice cream bar! This event is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For young adults and older. This is a PALS program and a caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. Friday Fun Day

Get out of the house and enjoy some Friday fun! On August 11, we will meet at the Carmike Thoroughbred Theatre in Cool Springs for a movie. This new program is for adults with disabilities. A caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. You must pre-register before August 10 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#9588, $8 per person). Recreation Night at Nolensville

One Tuesday per month, adolescents, (age 10 and older) are invited to a new rec activity night at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Our certified Rec Therapist will lead activities like crafts, exercise and socializing. Enrollment is limited, and the cost is $10 per child. Rec Night is Tuesday, August 22, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Register in advance at www.wcparksandrec.com (#9586).
