THERAPEUTIC RECREATION PROGRAMS

Holiday Karaoke Party and more

The Therapeutic Recreation programs offered by Williamson County Parks and Recreation provide year-round leisure activities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop skills and knowledge for daily living and community involvement.  Recreation Specialists conduct monthly ongoing programs at three locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; and the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. All programs are open to the public.

 

Holiday Karaoke

Sing along to your favorite song on Thursday, November 30 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Bring a CD along, and enjoy a pizza dinner and a karaoke sing along.  This event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is for young adults and older. This is a PALS program and a caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. Recreation Night at Nolensville

One Tuesday per month, adolescents, (age 10 and older) are invited to a therapeutic recreation activity night at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd.  Our certified Rec Therapist will lead activities like crafts, exercise and socializing. Enrollment is limited, and the cost is $10 per child. Rec Night is Tuesday, November 7, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Register by November 16 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#10275).

 

Potluck and Bingo

Therapeutic recreation participants are invited to enjoy free potluck and bingo from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. November 8 at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. (#10256) and December 7 at the Franklin Recreation Complex (#10467), and Participants (young adults and older) should bring a dish to share. Meat and drinks will be provided.  Pre-registration is required at www.wcparksandrec.com.  This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. 

 

Games Galore

Enjoy a game of indoor kickball with friends on Thursday, November 9 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.  Enjoy a baked potato and salad bar plus dessert.  Pre-registration is required by November 7 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#10264).  This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. 

 

Throwback Thursday-Night at the Movies

Meet at the Carmike Thoroughbred Theater for a night out at the movies on Throwback Thursday, November 16.  Bring money for movie ticket and concessions. Each participant will be contacted with the meeting time and movie title.  This program is for young adults and older with disabilities. A caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. You must pre-register before November 13 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#10282). 

 

Bowling

Therapeutic Rec bowlers meet every Tuesday at the Franklin Entertainment Center. Join the fun from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Bring $3 for bowling fee and cash for cone cessions. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support.  No registration is needed.

 

Parents’ Night Out

Parents of special needs children can enjoy a night out November 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. while recreation specialists supervise activities for kids (ages 6-17). Parents’ Night Out is offered at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Dinner will be provided. Friday Fun Day

Get out of the house and enjoy some Friday fun! On December 8, we will meet at King’s Bowl in Franklin at 11:00 a.m. Bring money for lunch, bowling and shoe rental. . This program is for adults with disabilities. A caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support.
