Watercolor, Hummingbirds, and more

 

Williamson County Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce a number of community classes for youth and adults at the new Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. All classes are fee based and open to the public. Registration is now available at www.wcparksandrec.com.

 

Watercolor Hand Lettering Workshop

In this workshop, learn to make hand letters using beautiful watercolors. Explore the differences in calligraphy and hand lettering, as well as how to use a watercolor pen brush. Practice the alphabet and take home a workbook and a finished hand lettered quote. Watercolor Hand Lettering meets Sunday, March 4, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #11384. The class is $50. For ages 16 through adults. Supplies are provided.

 

Card Making with Varada

Perfect for a beginner or experienced paper crafter.  Explore your creativity and learn how to create handmade, unique greeting cards using different techniques and holiday themes.  Card Making with Varada meets Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Springtime, 3/3; Birthday, 3/10; Easter, 3/17 or 3/24); or Mondays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Springtime, 3/5; Birthday, 3/12; Easter, 3/19 or 3/26) at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.  Open to ages 12 through adults. Basic Drawing

Adults can learn to draw in this drop-in class on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Learn the basics of drawing: perspective, value and texture. Each class will include a drawing exercise such as a face, animal or landscape.  Classes are $15 each and will meet on Tuesdays (March 6-20). No advance registration is required-just pay the class fee at the front desk of the center.

 

Help a Hummer Out-Free UT/TSU Extension program

Learn about hummingbirds and their important role as pollinators in our area and around the world. Learn how to make your landscape a welcoming place for hummers all year long. This is a free public class made possible by the extension programs of the University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University. For ages 12 –seniors.  Help a Hummer Out meets Friday, March 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #11459 (Free).

 

Beginner’s Watercolor Workshop

Join the fun on Sunday, March 18 and learn the basics of watercolor techniques.  Go home with a fully painted landscape. This class is for ages 16 through adults, and meets from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #11385. Grandparent and Me Art Class

Celebrate the season with your preschool age grandchildren (age 3-6 years). We will have a great time creating art together and making memories! Grandparent & Me art will meet Tuesday, March 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #11307 The class is $10 per pair; Please only register the child that will be attending. Sing for Joy

Are you a shy singer?  This class is your chance to enjoy singing! Learn how to carry a tune, sing on pitch, where your natural singing voice sounds best and how to sing for joy! Students will sing together in choral style. Sing for Joy meets Thursday, March 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #11457 ($10). Piano or Voice Lessons

Private weekly piano or voice lessons for adults with a focus on fun! For piano students, learn your way around the keyboard through a natural process, play songs with both hands and read music. Voice students will practice popular songs, breathing and vocal exercises as well as learn stage presence.  Thirty-minute private lessons are available on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Guitar, Ukulele and Mandolin Lessons

Master guitarist John D’Amato offers private lessons on the guitar, ukulele and mandolin for all ages and skill levels. Lesson plans are created with the music and songs you want to play!  Lessons are available on Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Thirty-minute private lessons are $30 each, payable monthly.  Contact instructor John D’Amato at 615-394-1252.
