Williamson County Enrichment Center Classes – Kids’ drama camps plus art classes for all ages

Williamson County Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce a number of community classes for youth and adults at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. All classes are fee-based and open to the public. Hairspray to Hamilton Camps

Hairspray to Hamilton is a Broadway style intensive summer camp that showcases a wide variety of music-from energetic group numbers to stirring ballads from Broadway favorites like Hamilton, Hairspray and Wicked. Camp will be offered July 23-27 (#11753), with a musical revue on the last day for parents and friends.  Meets at the Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 112 Everbright Ave., Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily. Disney Favorites Performing Arts Camp

With catchy tunes and dances from Disney favorites like Mary Poppins, Snow White and Jungle Book to the latest favorites like Frozen and Moana, these one-week camps will have kids singing and dancing through musical numbers. Daily instruction will lead up to a Friday showcase performance for parents and friends. A July camp for ages 3 to 6 is July 16-20 at the Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 112 Everbright Ave. in Franklin. Camp is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the fee is $200. Basic Drawing

Adults can learn to draw in this drop-in class on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Learn the basics of drawing: perspective, value and texture. Each class will include a drawing exercise such as a face, animal or landscape.  Classes are $15 each and will meet on Tuesdays (July 17-31). No advance registration is required-just pay the class fee at the front desk of the center.

 

Card Making with Varada

Perfect for a beginner or experienced paper crafter.  Explore your creativity and learn how to create handmade, unique greeting cards using different techniques and holiday themes.  Card Making with Varada meets Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Summer themes, 7/14; Shaker & window, 7/21; Back to school, 7/28) at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.  Open to ages 9 through adults. Young Rembrandts

Combine science, math and art in a study of Steam. Illustrate sciences, technologies, engineering feats and math principles while creating art in this drawing camp for kids (age 6-13). Young Rembrandts-STEAMin’ up Summer meets Monday through Friday, July 16-20 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register for this session at www.youngrembrandts.com (#12108, $140).

 

Piano or Voice Lessons

Private weekly piano or voice lessons for adults with a focus on fun! For piano students, learn your way around the keyboard through a natural process, play songs with both hands and read music. Voice students will practice popular songs, breathing and vocal exercises as well as learn stage presence.  Thirty-minute private lessons are available on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Guitar, Ukulele and Mandolin Lessons

Master guitarist John D’Amato offers private lessons on the guitar, ukulele and mandolin for all ages and skill levels. Lesson plans are created with the music and songs you want to play!  Lessons are available on Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Thirty-minute private lessons are $30 each, payable monthly.  Contact instructor John D’Amato at 615-394-1252.
