OPEN AUDITIONS FOR “ALADDIN JR.” ARE THIS SATURDAY, MAY 11

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s children’s theatre group, the Rising Stars (formerly Star Bright Jr.), is a theatre program for kids age 5 through 8th grade. Open auditions for the production, “Aladdin Jr.” will be on Saturday, May 11 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. (ages 5 to 8), and 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. (age 9 through 8th grade).

The auditions will take place at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd, Franklin. This Disney musical is based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for young performers.

Those auditioning should prepare 30 seconds of an age-appropriate Broadway musical song. There will also be a simple dance routine taught during auditions, so kids should come prepared to move.  No registration is required to audition. All experience levels are encouraged to audition.

Once cast, a participation fee of $75 will cover 40+ hours of professional instruction, make-up, costumes, sets, full production, and a t-shirt. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. starting May 28 at Franklin Recreation Complex. Performance dates are June 21 – 23 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin. This Rising Stars production will be directed by Blandina Vergara-Cruz.
