Nashville songwriter Barry Coggins hosts annual golf and music event to raise awareness and funds for FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels

Nashville singer/songwriter Barry Coggins, 25+ year FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels volunteer, hopes to raise $20,000 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the golf tournament.

20th annual Barry Coggins and FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels Golf Tournament will be held at the Nashboro Golf Course, 1101 Nashboro Blvd., Nashville 37217 on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019; Check-in is at 10 a.m.; shotgun start at 11:10 a.m. Registration is $100/per person; $300/team. Come for the fun, refreshments, prizes and a round of golf for a good cause. A catered meal and prizes awarded after the tournament.

In addition to golf, Coggins will also host the FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels Writers Night to be held at Douglas Corner Café, (2106 8th Ave S., Nashville, 37204), on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 6-8 p.m., $10 suggested cover.

Background:
Barry Coggins became a volunteer driver for FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels when he moved to Nashville in 1993. The sheer amount of time that Barry has given to FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels makes him extraordinary. It is estimated that in his 25+ years of service Coggins has volunteered at least 3,000 hours and delivered more than 9,000 meals to home- bound older adults in our community. His commitment to fundraising through the annual golf tournament and ancillary events have resulted in revenues of more than $50,000 over 19 years. Additionally, he has increased awareness of the needs of program customers and elders in general. It is his wish to honor the 20th anniversary of the golf tournament with the goal of raising $20,000 for the FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels program.
