Award-winning singer/songwriter Mike Reid brings magic to FiftyForward benefit concert

Franklin, Tenn. — Award-winning singer/songwriter Mike Reid wowed the audience at The Franklin Theatre in late May with a concert performance marking the 13th Music & Memories signature fundraising event to benefit FiftyForward Martin Center.

The proceeds of this benefit concert help to support the mission of FiftyForward and its programs, centers and services. FiftyForward Martin Center is located in Brentwood, Tennessee, and provides activities and services for those 50+.

An engaging storyteller and entertainer, Reid opened the show with Billy Joel’s Piano Man in what may have been a bit of a “self-portrait.” Reid performed for more than two hours, evoking memories through music. Highlights of Reid’s music included I Can’t Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Desperado (Eagles) as well as A Stranger In My House that later became a chart topping hit for Ronnie Milsap. One of his closing songs was his No. 1 hit (1991) Walk on Faith.

Songwriting was Reid’s second career following his five years as an All-Pro NFL player (Cincinnati Bengals). Reid’s songs have netted him many awards including a Grammy Award for Best Country Song (1984) and an Academy of Country Music Award for Song of the Year (1986) and ASCAP Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year.
