College Grove Community Center Adds Classes

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces the addition of teen and adult art classes at the College Grove Community Center, 8607 Horton Highway. Learn all about book arts: recycled books, altered books, spiral books, accordion books and other styles.  Learn to make beautiful paste papers to incorporate into your own journal. Book Arts will meet on Tuesdays, January 5-26 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Course is for ages 12 and older, including adults. Homeschooled students are welcome. The cost for the four-week course is $70. A supply list will be provided at registration. It’s time to mix things up and think outside the same old box! This class combines a love pf painting with various processes and techniques like collage, rubbings, transfers, journaling and more. Use your experimental musings and select ideas to enlarge into a bigger painting, or use in a series.  For ages 15 and older including adults. Homeschooled students are welcome. Class meets Wednesdays, January 6-27 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Course fee: $70. A supply list is provided at registration. In this painting class, choose to work with oils or acrylics. Choose your subject or paint from life. Class will cover composition, color theory and other elements of art and design.  The four-week class meets Thursdays, January 7-28 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Course fee: $70. The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is a public organization, designed to benefit the community. No membership is required. Anyone can register for and participate in classes and activities.
