Holiday Shoe Drive
California Closets Nashville, the area’s leading provider of personalized closet systems and customized storage solutions for more than a decade, has teamed up with Dress for Success Nashville to participate in a national holiday donation drive.
Now through Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, California Closets is accepting lightly new or gently worn shoes to donate to women in need through Dress for Success, a nonprofit that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life.
Those who donate shoes will be given discounts when purchasing California Closets products.
“We are so excited to be partnering with California Closets and are thrilled that they’ll be helping us collect shoes for our clients this season,” said Newtonia Coleman, program coordinator for Dress for Success Nashville. “California Closets has some shared values and they are very supportive of our mission and the types of services we’re offering women in the Middle Tennessee area.
“We are always looking for more shoes—we never seem to have enough. One of our greatest needs is larger-sized shoes, but we are accepting all sizes!”
For each pair of shoes a person donates, California Closets will provide a 1 percent discount on the total invoice, up to 10 percent off for 10 pairs of shoes. The company’s showroom is the dropoff location, located at 420 Cool Springs Boulevard, Suite 125, in Cool Springs. Donations can also be left with one of the designers during a client consultation.
“This is a tremendous organization that has helped hundreds of women in our area, and we’re excited to help in this way,” said Kurt Schusterman, owner of California Closets Nashville. “The timing in providing professional shoes to women who are hoping to start off the new year with new opportunities, well, it seemed perfect. And if our clients can save money in the process of helping others, it’s a real win-win.”
Dress for Success also provides much more for Middle Tennessee women seeking a fresh start.
“Women can come to us who are looking for employment or planning to attend an interview or job fair,” said Coleman. “We provide a suit, jacket, shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelry…everything that they will need to make a good first impression.”
