JULY PROGRAMS AT TIMBERLAND PARK
Williamson County Parks and Recreation is proud to host ongoing nature programs and events at Timberland Park during the month of July.
July 4: Independence Day Extravaganza
9:00 a.m. – Edible Plants of Middle Tennessee: Come and learn about some of the useful plants that we have in our area! Participants will learn about some historic uses of these plants as well as some survival tips. Wear appropriate footwear for walking on a trail. 11:00 a.m. – Mammal Pelts of Tennessee: Have you ever wanted to feel how soft an otter’s fur is? Or perhaps you want to pet a coyote. This is your chance to do so safely. Come out to Timberland Park for a talk about some of Tennessee’s native mammals and also get a chance to feel their pelts. Register for activity #15135 at www.wcparksandrec.com.
2:00 p.m. – Skulls and Scat Breakdown: Join us at Timberland to discuss different skulls and the scat that goes along with it. Don’t know what scat is? Come out and see! Register for activity #15221 at www.wcparksandrec.com.
3:00 p.m. – Timberland Park Slideshow and Talk: Sit and enjoy a slideshow of pictures taken at our beautiful Timberland Park. While the slideshow goes by, our staff will tell you all about what you are seeing and why it is so special. Register for activity #15225 at www.wcparksandrec.com.
July 13:
9:00 a.m. – Guided Hike: Join us at Timberland Park for a guided hike. We will be discussing plants, animals, and the history of the park. Participants can expect to walk around one mile across uneven ground. Register for activity #14896 at www.wcparksandrec.com.
11:00 a.m. – Creating a Nature Journal: Come out to your favorite park and learn about how to make your very own nature journal. Register for activity #14897 at www.wcparksandrec.com.
2:00 p.m. – Honeycomb Candle Making: Participants will create and take home their own honeycomb candle and get to sample some honey. Along with the candle making, you will also learn about the life history of the honeybee. Come on out to Timberland Park. Register for activity #14898 at www.wcparksandrec.com. Cost: $2.00/person.
July 26:
