Side-by-Side Concert

7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019

PERFORMERS: Nashville Symphony | Enrico Lopez-Yañez, conductor | Curb Youth Symphony | Carol Nies, director | Luke Turner, piano

Enjoy this FREE opportunity to hear the next generation of classical musicians performing alongside the musicians of your Nashville Symphony. A program of Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, in partnership with the Nashville Symphony, Curb Youth Symphony features some of the mid-state region’s most accomplished and dedicated high-school musicians.

For this very special program, the Curb Youth Symphony and Nashville Symphony perform Shostakovich’s landmark Symphony No. 5, a work written during a critical moment in Soviet history. To open the concert, pianist Luke Turner, a ninth-grade home school student and winner of the 2019 Curb Concerto Competition, will step forward as soloist with the Nashville Symphony on the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s lyrical Piano Concerto No. 2.

General admission tickets to the concert on May 7 are free and available to the public, but must be reserved in advance. Visit NashvilleSymphony.org/SideBySide for more information and to reserve tickets.
