Open Auditions for the Musical Little Shop of Horrors

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s award-winning children’s theatre group, The Star Bright Players, will hold open auditions for the rock musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors on Sunday, February 10 from 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. at Freedom Middle School, 750 Highway 96 W., Franklin, TN.  Little Shop of Horrors is a deviously delectable sci-fi musical smash about Seymour, a geeky floral shop worker who finds out his Venus flytrap can speak and sing. He affectionately names the carnivorous plant “Audrey II” after his crush at the shop. As Audrey II grows bigger and meaner, the strange plant promises limitless fame and fortune to Seymour, as long as he continues providing the plant’s bizarre requests. The electrifying 1960s pop/rock score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman is packed with non-stop thrills.

For this musical production, all children must be age 7 through high school senior at the time of the audition. Children may arrive anytime during the audition time, but must be prepared to wait. Auditions for new participants in Star Bright will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by returning Star Bright Player auditions from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Parents must remain in waiting areas and may not observe auditions.

Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a standard musical theatre song acapella and wear comfortable clothing as you will be asked to move and read during the audition. You will be filling out an information sheet, so please be prepared to list previous experience with theatre, dance, voice, etc. and any schedule conflicts. Please visit www.wcparksandrec.com to view more information about the audition.

There is a $75 activity fee for all children cast in the show (includes costume rental and cast t-shirt). Performance dates are May 2-5, 2019. For more information, contact Alison.Worden@williamsoncounty-tn.gov.
