POP-UP LUMINARY VIVEK SURTI ANNOUNCES TAILOR NASHVILLE TO OPEN THIS YEAR

VEA Supper Club, Nashville’s first and longest-running series of more than 100 sold-out pop-up concepts, finds its home as a South Asian American restaurant in Germantown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vivek Surti, creator of the acclaimed VEA Supper Club, is set to open a South Asian American restaurant, finally fulfilling the pleas of food lovers who have fallen in love with the unique, fun and delicious dining experiences Surti is known for. The restaurant, named Tailor Nashville, will open this year at 1300B 3rdAve. N. in Germantown. Holding true to its supper club roots, the 2,000-square-foot space will be like coming into a dinner party, a welcoming place where you are greeted with food and drink as soon as you come in, a fresh and unique menu, high touch service and plenty of delicious drinks.

The details of Tailor – from the name to the cuisine – reflect Surti’s heritage. Tailor is a family name, representing the occupation of Surti’s relatives for many generations, and the South Asian American menu is representative of Surti being a first generation American of Indian descent.

“The food has to tell a story,” according to Surti, and many of his dishes are representative of the Gujarati meals he grew up eating as a child, dishes that are American, as well as dishes inspired by travel. As far as his hospitality point of view, Surti says, “we want to welcome all of you into our home, just like my grandmother did. Sit your butt down in the chair, because we’re gonna feed you.”

The tailor-made dining experience will be unlike any other concept in town with the restaurant operating for two-dinner services at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. four nights a week, Thursday through Sunday. The 40- seat restaurant will offer eight to ten dishes, starting with snacks on the table, followed by a series of courses, presented as a comfortable, modern dinner party that sparks conversation. Surti will offer brief stories between courses to give guests context to the food they are served.

Partnering with Surti on this venture will be Heather Southerland, an owner/partner of Frothy Monkey, who will bring her expertise in front-of-house service to Tailor. The duo will welcome guests with approachable high-touch service to ensure guests leave happier than when they arrived.

Reservations to dine at Tailor will be released one month in advance through the restaurant’s website for $60 per person with upgrades available such as drink pairings. For the latest updates about Tailor, visit www.TailorNashville.com or connect to Tailor Nashville on Instagram.
