Senior Outings to Fisk Art Gallery/Monell’s and Nashville Craft/Mojo Taco

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) invites area seniors (55+) to participate in two upcoming day trips to visit area attractions. The activities are open to the public.

Fisk Art Gallery and Monell’s

A trip to the Fisk Art Gallery is planned for Wednesday, February 20 to visit the Carl Van Vechten Gallery, established in 1949 and housed in a late 19th century building. The gallery showcases changing exhibitions, temporary installations and permanent pieces from Fisk’s art collection. The group will also visit the Aaron Douglas Gallery, located in the campus library, displaying works from faculty, students and leading contemporary artists.

After the gallery visit, the group will feast on plates of southern classics and comfort foods at a Nashville favorite, Monell’s. Still in its original location in the Germantown area of Nashville, this 1905 Victorian style home is the perfect setting for serving meals family style. The cost of the outing is $38 per person. Lunch is included in the price of this trip.

Transportation is available from two locations. A group will depart the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin at 9:00 a.m. and return by 2:00 p.m. The Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr., Spring Hill will also provide transportation for the trip with a departure time of 8:40 a.m., returning by 2:30 p.m. Registration is at www.wcparksandrec.com through February 8 or until full.
