The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites all area seniors to participate in a wide variety of ongoing senior programs at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Senior programs are designed for residents age 55 and older (unless otherwise noted). WCPRD is a public organization, here to benefit the community. No membership is required. Anyone can register for and participate in our classes –a facility pass is not required. Aquamotion – Arthritic/Post Rehab Water Class
Is the pain of everyday living getting you down? Then get up and join Heather Atkinson’s “Aquamotion” on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., September 2-30 (skip 9/7). This class provides an opportunity for people with arthritis and post-rehab conditions to improve flexibility, coordination and muscle strength. No registration required. ZUMBA GOLD
Active older adults (age 55 and older) are invited to try the latest fitness craze in a new class called “Zumba Gold” on Wednesday, September 2, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Zumba Gold fuses Latin rhythms with exercise for a fun workout. Excellent for beginners or those who may be limited physically. This class will meet on the first Wednesday of each month. Zumba Gold is $2 and no registration is necessary for this drop-in class. Power Tools
Nancy Rieves, a certified personal trainer, leads this class designed to increase strength and flexibility for independent living. No registration required! Classes are held on ongoing Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, September 4-30 (skip 9/7) from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The fee is $2 per class paid at the front desk. Wear comfortable clothes! Potluck and Bingo
Seniors are invited to bring a side dish or a dessert and enjoy this monthly potluck lunch. After lunch, participants will play Bingo for prizes! Meat and drinks will be provided. September’s potluck will be on Monday, September 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please note: due to potluck preparations, doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Registration is required between August 24 and September 27.
