Telescope Viewing Nights

On the second Friday of every month from now through November, the Dyer Observatory telescopes will be open for viewing and astronomers will be available to answer questions and provide information about the various exhibits found in the observatory.  There will not be a formal talk/program on these nights.

Please read through the following information before making a reservation:

  • Telescope Night reservations are available 30 days prior to each event. Reservations are required and must be made online.
  • The Seyfert Telescope is located on the second floor of the observatory. There are twenty steps leading to the second floor.
  • If the sky is cloudy, the observatory will still be open for “ask an astronomer” and observatory tours.
  • Start times vary – please see our calendar for start times and details.

Second-Friday Telescope Nights for 2013 are

  • July 12
  • August 9
  • September 13
  • October 11
  • November 8
