Therapeutic Recreation at Franklin Rec Complex

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department offers therapeutic recreation programs at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. WCPRD is a public organization, designed to benefit the community. No membership  is required. Anyone can register for and participate in classes and programs–no facility pass is required. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop skills, knowledge and behavior for daily living and community involvement. Classes require pre-registration. Call 790-5719, ext. 10 to register. For more information regarding therapeutics programs, contact Jayne McFadden at 790-5719, ext. 33.
Fitness Fun
Challenge yourself to an invigorating, weekly workout! Teens and older are invited to join in easy-to-follow exercises designed to increase strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Participants must be independent in their personal care and able to follow directions in a group. The program is offered on Wednesdays, January 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. Fitness Fun costs $12 total for the 4-week session (no refunds for missed sessions). Recreation Night-Potluck & Bingo!
Everybody loves a potluck dinner and bingo! Young adults and older can enjoy both on Thursday, January 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Meat, drinks and bingo prizes (for participants only) are provided. There is no charge for the event, but please bring a side dish or dessert to share. This is a therapeutic recreation program offered by the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department and a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers planning to attend are asked to register as well. Super Saturday Respite
Individuals with disabilities (ages 6 to 23) are invited to enjoy games, crafts, music, swimming and more! Come dressed to swim and bring a towel, change of clothes, sack lunch, snack and a beverage for a day of fun! Personal care will be provided for those with special needs only. Respite is held on Saturday, January 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and costs $20 per person. This event is for Williamson County residents only. Registration is required after 9 a.m. on December 29 through January 4. You must speak with a therapist at 790-5719, ext. 33 to register. You may leave a message for the therapist who will return your call in the order it was received. Leaving a message is not registering. Space is limited! (Note: Check-in for this event is held between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Due to space constraints, if a registrant is not checked in by 10:30 a.m. the registrant’s slot will be given to the next person on the waiting list.) Bowling
Knock down some pins! All ages are welcome to meet at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, January 12, 19 and 26 to practice bowling skills. Cost is just $3.00 per visit (paid directly to the Franklin Family Entertainment Center) for an hour and a half of bowling fun! (Fee includes shoes and a ball.) Due to staff availability, one-on-one assistance is not available for this activity. No registration is required, but please arrive at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center by 3:00 p.m.
Games Galore
Young adults are invited to meet on Thursday, January 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to play kickball. Participants will also enjoy a taco dinner with drinks and dessert. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers planning to attend are asked to register as well. Recreation Night-Let’s Get Cooking!
Join your friends for a fun evening while you make your own dinner and socialize with friends at the Franklin Recreation Complex. Young adults and older can enjoy both on Thursday, January 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 a person and includes making personal pan pizzas, salads and desserts.  This is therapeutic recreation program offered by the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department and a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers wishing to eat are asked to register and pay the program fee.
