Kids and adult art, computer gaming as a business

Williamson County Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce a number of community classes for youth and adults at the new Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin, TN All classes are fee based and open to the public. Registration is now available at www.wcparksandrec.com.

 

Basic Drawing

Adults can learn to draw in this drop-in class on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Learn the basics of drawing: perspective, value and texture. Each class will include a drawing exercise such as a face, animal or landscape.  Classes are $15 each and will meet on Tuesdays September 4-25.  No advance registration is required-just pay the class fee at the front desk of the center.

 

Video Gaming, Modeling and Business Ventures

This class is designed to help adults get started in the field of video game design and business development.  Class will use Unity3D for game creation and Blender for model making. Course requires only modest computer skills and a MAC or PC to bring to class. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 4-20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #12916. Young Rembrandts-Drawing

Explore Fall themes in these drawing classes for kids (age 6-14). Young Rembrandts teaches basic drawing skills while having fun. Try tarantula line art and Van Gogh inspired sunflowers.   Meets Tuesdays, September 4-25 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register for this session at www.youngrembrandts.com ($60).

 

Card Making with Varada

Perfect for a beginner or experienced paper crafter.  Explore your creativity and learn how to create handmade, unique greeting cards using different techniques and holiday themes.  Card Making with Varada meets Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (3-D crafts 9/8, Halloween 9/15, Interactive cards 9/22, Thanksgiving 9/29) at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.  Open to ages 9 through adults. Beginner’s Watercolor Workshop

Join the fun on Sunday, September 9 and learn the basics of watercolor techniques.  Go home with a fully painted landscape. This class is for ages 16 through adults, and meets from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com, #12498. The class is $50. Supplies are provided.

 

Line Dancing for Fitness and Fun

Learn line dances that will increase our fitness level while you have fun!  No experience required. For adults only. Seniors are welcome. Meets on Sundays, September 16 and 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. No registration required. $5 per class. New students welcome to join at any time.

 

Watercolor Landscape Workshop

Artist Amanda Harrison offers this monthly class in how to paint a landscape. Each class features a different subject and students are guided step-by-step. Watercolor Landscape will be Monday, September 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.  The class is for ages 16-adults, and is $50. Floral Watercolor Workshop

Paint from a live floral subject in this intermediate watercolor class. Learn to sketch and paint layers for a stunning finished painting. Floral  Watercolor meets Sunday, September 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.  For ages 16 and older. $50 for the class. Piano or Voice Lessons

Private weekly piano or voice lessons for ages 3 through adults with a focus on fun! For piano students, learn your way around the keyboard through a natural process, play songs with both hands and read music. Voice students will practice popular songs, breathing and vocal exercises as well as learn stage presence.  Thirty-minute private lessons are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays. Guitar, Ukulele and Mandolin Lessons

Master guitarist John D’Amato offers private lessons on the guitar, ukulele and mandolin for all ages and skill levels. Lesson plans are created with the music and songs you want to play!  Lessons are available on Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. Thirty-minute private lessons are $30 each, payable monthly.  Contact instructor John D’Amato at 615-394-1252.
