Williamson County Fair continues – weather or not

The Williamson County Fair, Barnyard Mardi Gras, is happening until Saturday.

Despite the unpredictable August weather, there are still plenty of fun and educational activities, entertainment and exhibits inside and outside.

The comfortable temperatures brought visitors flowing into the 12th annual fair making Friday, by early estimates, the third largest opening day.

Grand Opening entertainment was the annual Mayors Challenge held this year at the Tractor Supply Company “Follow Us To The Fair” exhibit in the TSC Livestock area. This year county Mayor Rogers Anderson, Nolensville Mayor Jimmy Alexander and TSC President & Chief Marketing Officer Steve Barbarick were challenged to rope a pig – a mechanical pig – from a lawn tractor.

Mayor Alexander roped his pig after two attempts. Mayor Anderson caught the tail in four throws and the head on the fifth – an almost tie was declared. Barbarick needed a few practice throws before he roped the pig.
